So, have you ever wondered what a day in the life of me, your child photographer looks like? I will give you behind the scenes of a day in the life of a child photographer. It’s quite normal and simple, much like the rest of my friends. Added in with a little chaos and parenting. If you didn’t already know me, I am a mother to a beautiful 8-year-old daughter and a few wonderful older stepchildren with a handsome little grandson!
What being a child photographer does to my soul!
Being a photographer alone is simply amazing! I love being able to create art in a different way than some people. When I first decided to pick up a camera it wasn’t because I thought it would help me express myself in ways, I never thought I could. For me it was a way to make income while staying home with my daughter because family has always been so important to me.
I couldn’t possibly have a job out of the home knowing I was going to be missing out on my babies first steps, my babies’ firsts everything. After years of being an “everything” photographer it burned me out, I wanted to have that fiery feeling in my soul like I did when I first began my photography journey. That is when I realized that the fire in my passion belonged to child photography! I loved everything about it, working with the children, creating timeless images that really spoke to me. Creating a child’s story through their portraits it just fills my cup. The biggest part is also seeing my clients faces during the sessions, and once they see their final images. Knowing they are just in awe makes me feel complete and like I have helped them in some way not possible normally.

It’s not all just about photography! A Day in the life of a child photographer
I am a normal lady too, not every day is about photography! I also work another job at our local elementary school as an aide in the first-grade classroom. I enjoy seeing their smiling faces every day and helping shape them into the adults they will become. I also have days where I don’t even want to think of photography! My family loves to travel and we try to fit in a family vacation at least two times a year. It is usually to warmer weather and the ocean. One day I could see myself settling in a state right near the ocean. The ocean fills my soul almost as much as being a mother, and a child photographer.

Capturing childhood with child photography
My most favorite part about being a child photographer is capturing childhood. I love to capture special moments of my growing daughter’s childhood. I am thankful that I have this gift to create beautiful pieces that tell a story. When my daughter is older, she will be able to look back at these portraits and remember exactly how she felt in that moment. What the air smelled like and what was going on in her life during that time. Follow my journey of capturing childhood on Facebook!
