Since we are no longer living in a “normal” world, or what we once knew to be normal; How do we handle a portrait session during COVID? Let’s dive into Kid Photography and the COVID precautions we need to take. I strive to keep my clients happy and healthy. Since COVID is still a risk and isn’t going anywhere anytime soon I will guide you through what to expect during a Kid Photography session with me.
Let’s take the session outdoor
What better way to create a safe environment than being outdoors in the open air? COVID is at a lower risk for me the photographer, and our children if we keep the sessions outdoor. Most of my favorite child fine art sessions take place outside. Since I am in Fayetteville New York we get all of the beautiful seasons. What better way to capture true childhood moments than outdoors? Summer, we can do some fun summer activities to shoot, fall has the beautiful colors and vibrant browns. Winter brings a whole new level to portraits, enjoy a fun winter activity while we get some beautiful kid photography worthy moments.

Studio cleanliness during COVID and Kid Photography.
I pride myself in keeping the studio clean and welcoming. During COVID if we need to shoot a studio session, we still have that option. Since I only take in 2-3 clients per month that leaves me ample time for cleaning the studio. If you still want to do a child portrait session in the studio, take mind that you will be safe!

Should my child wear a mask when not being photographed?
Thus far during COVID, children have been at low risk. Of course, you as a parent will be present during your child’s session too. I follow the CDC guidelines and currently masks are not mandated for children, or anyone who is vaccinated. If you have had your vaccination and we are doing a kid photography studio session, you will not need to wear a mask. Just take note that this could be changing as COVID is beginning to spread again.
